As we were previously scheming, I became pretty stressed. Once stressed, I frowned more, smiled less, furrowed my brows a lot, and did not enjoy life.
Thus, here are rules of engagement I’ve established:
- If I am no longer enjoying what I’m working on, stop and do something I would enjoy.
- Plan life things one step at a time. Trying to be a chess-master, I tend to try to sequence simultaneous moves. (Move, get remote work, have rent paying tenants, win.) However, since each step has inherent uncertainties (like how dependable rent income will be), once I have a general plan, I should focus on the immediate next step, do my due diligence to minimize the uncertainties, and not worry about future worries.
- Continue to communicate and prioritize down-time with Burton so we do not get consumed with our projects and lose touch with our affection for each other.
